Base Jumping Accident
TWIN FALLS - 06:39 PM MST on Friday, November 3, 2006-- Emergency crews in Twin Falls are on the scene of a BASE jumping death at the Perrine Bridge.
A Twin Falls County Sheriff's deputy says the man, who is from out-of-state, jumped off the bridge late this afternoon, but his parachute failed to open.
Deputies say the man hit the Snake River with tremendous impact and died.
The deceased man has not yet been identified.
The Perrine Bridge is the only man-made structure in the U.S. where BASE jumping is legal without a permit every day of the year.
This was the second BASE jumping death at the bridge in 2006.
